I have no complaints about the Doctors, its trying to get an appointment that's the problem, and then there's the parking! I usually park in Station Avenue and walk over the step bridge, not good in the dark, there is Bourne Hall car park but there is a charge. The waiting room isn't very welcoming, parents have allowed their children to write on the walls, do they do that at home I wonder?

The appointment system is extremely frustrating. One has to start ringing at 8.30am which is almost impossible for anyone who is on their journey to work. Then starts the dance of i) the engaged tone ii) endlessly held in a queue which may eventually disconnect and you have to redial iii) eventually speak to a person who tells you that all the appointments have gone for the day. It is not possible to make an appointment for 2 or 3 days ahead - which is a very poor service for patients. The treatment by doctors and nurses I have always found to be excellent, but dealing with the way the surgery is managed is very vexing. The waiting room is truly filthy. It's a large room but all the chairs are placed in rows touching each other. I do not want to feel the heat from the arms of the two strangers I am forced to sit between. The once white fire surround is thick with dirt as are the wall mouldings. The carpet is stained. There are redundant curtain tracks at the once beautiful windows which do not hold curtains. At least the grey net curtains have been removed. The room needs a radio to reduce the empty echo of the large room and ambient lighting.

The surgery is run almost as a family - all the staff (doctors, nurses, receptionists and administrators and the cleaners) chat and banter with each other, clearly get on well and genuinely enjoy their work. They're efficient, quick to apologise if technology fails them or delays the process, and above all, friendly. As with every surgery, it can get very busy and there can be a wait getting through by phone or waiting for an appointment, but what's a couple of minutes out of my life when I know the care I get will be excellent? I strongly recommend this practice.

I have been registered here for five years. The doctors I have seen have been good. My biggest complaint is the inability to get through by phone in order to book an appointment. Even when there are no problems with their phone system, it can be one or two weeks before getting an appointment. Not good enough when one has to book children's appointments! The receptionist suggested physically going in to the surgery at 8.20am to book an appointment, not helpful for people who have to take children to school at that time. Although there is an online booking system for appointments, it does not always work and there is no way to register children on the system (I am told I need to speak to someone at the surgery who is not there very often!) - very unsatisfactory! Please improve your services to enable patients to see your very good doctors.

I very rarely go to the doctors because thankfully I very rarely need to. The last time, however, it was impossible to get an appointment and this morning I hung on for hours to make an appointment to be told that they are full and have no appointments for another week. How ridiculous is that. My toe is throbbing and the nail has lifted but I will go the pharmacist to get help, although the internet tells me that over the counter remedies do not work for the condition I have.
